If smells could be a love language, they would be mine!

Spring and summer prompt crisp, clean and floral scents.  But autumn and winter scents have to be my favorite.

Just so you know, this is totally NOT what my neighborhood looks like.
It was about 95 degree here today!
This weekend, take some time to bless your family with the gift of autumn scents.  Here are some ideas:

1)  Bake apples with cinnamon and cloves as a side dish at dinner.

2)  Buy a new air freshener or candle in an autumn scent.  Glade is featuring "Country Spice" and "Harvest Medley."

3)  Simmer potpourri on the stove.

4)  Bake loaves of pumpkin bread.  One to save and one to giveaway.

5)  Make apple butter as a family and serve on homemade biscuits.

6) Bake molasses crinkle cookies  (my Dad's favorite).

7) Build a fire in your fireplace.

8)  Make a pot of split pea soup.

9)  Serve hot spiced cider with dinner.

10)  Buy some pumpkin or spice scented hand or body soap for the family.

What are your ideas for bringing the scents of fall into your home?  Or what is your favorite thing about this month?   Post a comment and I'll pick someone at random to win  a Starbucks gift card so you can get your own Pumpkin Spice Latte!  I'll announce the winner on Monday.

In His Love,

Glynnis

I love the color of the autumn leaves! What an imagination God had when he created "fall." I also cannot get enough of a cinnamon scent this time of year.

After 32 years of marriage, I just made my first apple pie! It smelled so yummy and tasted good too!

My favorite fall thing to do is bake pumpkin bread to give to many of my friends, I also keep a Gold Canyon Pumpkin Pie candle burning. What a wonderful aroma they both provide.

Thanks for the encouragement Glynnis! I too live in a hot zone and it can be hard to feel like fall here in Phoenix. I have decided to make pumpkin spice soup regardless and burn some harvest candles, and to thank God for the beauty of fall in the Desert!

I love to bake anything with apples in them! And I love pumpkin scented candles. They remind me of goingt o antique shops and flea markets with my mom close to the holidays and looking at all the great stuff there! One place always had a crock pot full of apple cider for their guests from November through Christmas!

My favorite thing about the fall is to be walking in the middle of a leaf storm, when leaves, not rain, and wind are blowing all around me!

I love that now that November is here, it actually feels like fall. The weather is cooling off and the leaves are changing colors. I love the fall leaves.

I am a Native Southern Californian transplanted 10 years ago to Northeast Indiana. I would have to say that Autumn is my favorite time of year for several reasons. I went from green year round to a world of wonderful seasons. I love the autumn leaves as they change into their vibrant colors and then float down towards the ground. I love the crispness in the air as the warmth of summer passes way to the chill of oncoming fall. I love the fireplaces in Cracker Barrel (since I don't have one at home). I love Thanksgiving because it's a time to reflect with family and friends. I also love to see the deer as they change color too. It's awesome to see God's handiwork in nature.

Blessings,
Cindy W.

I'm also a cider girl. I love the smell (and taste) of apple cider!

Yeast rolls (or any baked bread) also say "fall" to me, probably because of great Thanksgiving meals.

Autumn is my favorite season. Love the cooler weather, the smells, the sights, and the time together with family!

Thanks for these great images of fall!

I LOVE the fall!
There are so many reasons to love this time of the year too.
I start the day after Labor Day and bring up all our harvest decorations and the excitement of going to the pumpkin patch is then in our home.Pull out some fall candles and get the cinnamon coffee cakes rolling. MMMM...
But of course the huge leaf piles to jump into is our all time favorite thing to do.
I guess you can say the fall brings out the kid in me :)
Happy fall! Colleen G.

I love candles so that is my favorite and most simple way to have the house smell like fall. With so many scents your home can smell like a bakery with different goodies everyday! :)

One of my favorite things is to build a fire in the fireplace. I also like sitting by the firepit on those cool evenings. Don't need a coat, but you do need a sweatshirt, drinking hot cidar or hot cocoa. Cinnamon and Apple Spice candles will be lit in the house and I will go back to baking some of my favorite meals that I avoid in the heat of the summer.

My favorite thing about autumn? There are so many it's hard to pick just one! I do love the brilliant leaves especially on those days when they drift down like brightly colored snowflakes, piling up in drifts that just beg one to run through them. My go-to autmun scent for home is a pumpkin spice candle.
