She Speaks 2009 is officially in the books. I'm sitting in the Atlanta airport right now, tired but happy. My heart is filled to overflowing with joy and love in the shadow of this year's conference. As usual, God's fingerprints were everywhere!

What to others would be "coincidences" we know as "divine appointments." God is always faithful.

To commemorate our 9th annual She Speaks Conference, I've compiled a list of 10 of my favorite moments:

  1. My first glimpse of 600 women jammed packed into a ballroom on Friday afternoon, waiting to learn why God called them to attend She Speaks.
  2. Dancing in to that ballroom to "We are Family" with my P31 sisters.
  3. Finding my name in the prayer room placed on "El Olam" Meaning "Everlasting God"
  4. Hearing Cheri Keaggy sing in person. I grew up listening to her uncle, Phil Keaggy, and have loved her music as well.
  5. Being with other women who love talking about verbs, adverbs and adjectives as much as I do.
  6. Meeting a sweet woman at dinner on Saturday who reads my blog. I'm humbled. Thank you!
  7. Working with fantastic publishers, editors and agents who gave up their weekend to give aspiring authors a chance to follow their dreams.
  8. Seeing the faces of women light up after a positive meeting with a publisher. I'm praying for you.
  9. Working with so many servant leaders and volunteers. Wow! You inspire me to keep pressing on. Thank you Lysa TerKeurst for modeling this with such grace and love.
  10. But the best thing of all that happened this weekend was God was lifted high and glorified.

May we become less and He become more.

There was so much more, but a top 100 list might be a bit overwhelming. If you went to She Speaks and have a favorite memory, please share it. I'd love to relive it with you.

Love,

Glynnis

Hi Glynnis,
I just wanted to let you know what an inspiration you were this weekend. I view your blog frequently, but I became a follower today. Thank you so much for giving so much encouragement and information to the aspiring writers of She Speaks.

My favorite memory was turning around in my speaker's eval group and seeing Lysa Terkeurst in the back row. I was on the verge of panic attack when sweet Melanie Chitwood told me she was not staying for the group's 5-min "teachings". Whew.

Hi Glynnis,
I wanted to respond to your blog post, and to today's P31 devotion, which I read daily via my email. First, thank you for the devotion. It made me think. I live in the UK, but I am an American. Here in the UK, people are discouraged from attending church, and Christianity is totally marginalized. The biggest strike against our faith that I see in Europe is complete indifference. People here view the faith as ancient history. Do you know that only 10% of the UK's population attends ANY kind of religious service? It's frightening. And the society is a mess: depraved, immoral, careless. You are right that we don't NEED freedoms to practice our faith, but it sure helps. I miss what America has for Christian people, because in spite of all the atheists, etc., who are constantly bashing Christianity in America, at least it is a mainstream topic. Over here, it is all but dead. Please pray for us here.

Also, I loved reading about your She Speaks experience. That's another thing I miss. There is not a single women's ministry conference or anything remotely like it here. Or ANY Christian conference of any kind. Would that you all would come to the UK, especially Scotland, where I live. I have Christian friends in my wee village, and we are desperate for living water and for connection with others of the faith.

Thank you for all you do, and praise God the rest of us can avail ourselves of matters of the faith at least via the Internet and email.

Glynnis,
Praise God for a wonderful conference! I can only imagine the glory of 600 women praising the Almighty.

I pray you travel home safely and carry this mountaintop experience to the valley.

Blessings,
Kelli

I read your daily devotion by email today and realize that a lot of people don't know that even today in countries that are "free" you are not always "free" to express your faith.....once when I was on placement for teacher training I swithched to the public school to get a placement closer to home, and the teacher said to me as soon as I walked in her room-I see that you have been doing your placements in the separate schools-you don't need your faith here....she didn't even know me!.....and yes, I have since had other people make comments on me being a teacher and a Christian...very heartbreaking and discouraging for sure! your devotion encouraged me. Thank you!

My favorite moments...
Answering a long time call from my Savior because I now feel I have the support and confirmation from God's girls that I'm not crazy for dreaming it . . . my dream is from Him. I treasure basking in His presence. The prayer room - no further explanation needed. As a book junky - feeling the exhilaration of having so many incredible resources to indulge in at one place and time! My pocket book is hurting, my luggage bulging, my shelves overflowing, but I can't wait to splurge again next year!! My only recommendation: Take a deposit now for next year's conference so I can reserve my seat! Thanks for all the tireless work of the Proverbs 31 team! To God be the glory.

She Speaks was awesome!! Thanks you all! Thanks for the encouragement and challenges! I have so many favorite moments I can't think of the best yet!
One thing I did notice was the transparency and the connecting of the Proverbs 31 Team. Often at conferences you can never get to the leaders. You guys ate with us, talked with us, and so on. It was wonderful. You were touchable! Blessings,

My favorite thing about She Speaks was meeting women from different places with different backgrounds and "God stories" of their lives, all with a common passion for Christ. I can't wait to meet up with them next year and see more of what God is doing in their lives!

Hi Glynnis,
I am reeling from this weekend. It will take weeks to process all that I heard and to study the notes from the breakout sessions. P-31, thank you for providing the opportunity to pursue a God-given dream! I was both encouraged and challenged to pursue hard after my Savior.

Hi, Glynnis!

She Speaks was a weekend I will never forget. I learned so much about writing for publication, but my most memorable experience was hearing Jennifer Rothschild speak on Saturday night. My life and my ministry will be forever changed with the message God placed in my heart through her words. My grateful thanks to all who worked so hard to accomplish this weekend of learning. I praise God for meeting us there. His presence was tangible, and that was all that I'd hoped for. Many blessings!

Thank you Glynnis, for your humility, compassion and hug Friday night.

That truly was one of my She Speaks highlights.

Thank you for serving the Lord so intentionally and passionately. He's using you to make powerful differences in the lives of MANY women (like mine!). I know you were on the road for a long time, I prayed for your rest and restoration.

Blessings and heartfelt gratitude.

Hi Glynnis,
I think my favorite part was listening to SO many speakers who were amazing, but primarily the ones in my BEGINNER evaluation group! I don't think anyone there was a beginner, but me! They were amazing!
I also will never forget the worship time with Cheryl after Jennifer Rothschild spoke on Saturday night. I went into the ugly cry. 'Nuff said.
And I was so encouraged by your Magazine Writing 101, as well! You did a great job and had tons of USEFUL and pertinent information.
Thanks for your grace, time, prayers and energy!
Hillary

Glynnis, I took could write a top 100 list easily. I was truly touched by so much, but like you say the best thing was God's presence - unbelievable!! Truly amazing!! I posted a couple poems He put on my heart in the early morning hours on Sunday. Perhaps the conference should be called, "He Speaks." His voice was loud and clear, but oh so gentle!! Thanks for allowing Him to work thru you, I was blessed.
Love, Jill

The conference was everything I hoped it to be and more. It's hard to pick a favorite memory - there are so many. I listed a few on my blog when I returned home.

Thank you for your words of encouragement and inspiration this weekend. I gleaned a lot of helpful information from Magazine Writing 101.

Blessings to you!
