I'm headed out of town tomorrow for a much needed family vacation. With my oldest son a senior in high school, we know these precious times are limited. While I'm gone, I've got a devotion running for Proverbs 31. So I'd like to say welcome to those who stopped by for a visit.

Because it's been kind of stressful getting ready to go, I thought it would be good to list some things that have made me happy this week. So here goes:

1) Ordering a Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato, melted, with non-fat milk, and a little extra caramel.
2) Having the woman behind me in line at Starbucks say, "That's exactly how I want my drink too!" Who knew I had a coffee sister?
3) Going to Target by myself
4) Getting so excited about going to Target by myself that I forgot my list at home - but remembered everything except a dust pan. (woo-hoo! Who really needs that?)
5) Watching my daughters and youngest son (age 13) work at needlepoint projects.
6) Having God confirm something without a doubt. How often does that happen? I just have to tell you the story:

I've been trying to lose the same pounds for about 15 years. And I have a specific number in my head that I think I should weigh. I've lost about 11 pounds so far, and decided to ask God if that was really the number I should aim for. I was kind of hoping He would say it didn't have to be as low as the number in my head. I was hoping He'd say because I was older now, I could stop at a higher number. Just so you know how incredible this was, the weight I think I should be is 140. I'm driving and praying and thinking in the back of my mind that God is too busy to bother with my "silly" questions. The second (not exaggerating) I finish praying I look at the speed limit sign: 40 mph. I'm shocked and amazed. Then I picked up my senior son (out at 10:35) and tell him the story. He says, "Mom, it's 10:40 exactly." I'm pretty confident I need to set 140 as my goal weight. :-)

7) Realizing (again) that no prayer request is too small or insignificant for God.
8) Starting a new small group and meeting six new friends.
9) Having all my kids want to go to the dollar store ... together.
10) Knowing on Saturday I'll be starting nine wonderful days with my family.

I wish you a week filled with happy things. May God shock and awe you with His amazing love and tender care.

In His Love,

Glynnis

Just wanted to thank you for that statement in your Prov. 31 devo today that said, "Thank you, Lord, for seeing my potential, even when I don't see it in myself." That's how I've been feeling lately as he's taken our family through a tough time. Your devo today was a blessing!

I didn't even realize how deeply your devotion was touching me until I realized that my eyes were filled with tears. This has been a huge month filled with many blessings but lots and lots of activities. I'm starting to unravel a little , and some things are falling through the cracks. There's an end in sight, so I just need to persevere. Your devotion was the ministry of grace that I needed today, though. Thanks, friend!

Such a nice list...I really need to stop and acknowledge the "little things" a bit more each day. Thanks for sharing your blessings - and for the great devotion on P31. Have a wonderful week - and 9 days with your family!

Your list was great, but I came by to say I loved your devotion for March 17th.
I have always wanted someone who has wronged me to own up for their mistake, and ooh I get mad when they don't...But then I was convected on how often do I show grace in that situation, I'm too busy feeling wronged. I just wanted to say thanks for pointing that out to me and show me what area I need to be working on. :)
Blessings & Love,

PS I am looking forward to your new book!

Interesting~ this is my first time to look at your blog. I have to agree about your Starbucks story & yesterday was my first time in many months to go to Target. What fun to wander around alone with a friend's "baby registry" list in hand. Enjoy your special family get-a-way; those are precious times for all of you! Blessings~God is good!

I just wanted to stop by and say how much your devotion encouraged me today.

You said, "People notice how you handle mistakes much more than how you manage success."

That is so so powerful.

Hope you have a great vacation.

Blessings,
Vickie
