Today my devotion on being desperate enough to make a positive change ran on Proverbs 31 Encouragement for Today. I'd like to extend a warm welcome to all our devotion readers who have found there way to my little corner of the Internet.

These are very desperate times for many people. I hardly watch the news anymore, because I know I'm going to hear about another company closing its doors, and how many more people are now unemployed. We are not unaffected in our household. Being self-employed is a challenge, especially when some of your consulting clients are in the construction business.

So I thought it might be appropriate to spend some time on how to make money at home. I've been working at home for 10 years, and for the past three years, my husband has worked from home too. Together we have learned a thing or two. Whether you want to work at home full time, or you would like to make some extra money, your home can be a place of financial productivity involving the whole family.

Recently I shared a radio interview with Donna Partow, who wrote a book called "Becoming the Woman God Wants me to Be." This book is a 90-day guide to living the Proverbs 31 life. Donna shares my love of working at home, and said something very bold in the interview. While I can't remember her exact words, basically she said everyone should have a home-based business to increase the revenue streams into the household coffers.

The more I thought about her comment, the more I agreed with her. When we read the Proverbs 31 scripture, we discover a woman who ran several home-based businesses. She used her God-given talents to bring income to her family. If this is God's model for an ideal wife, then maybe we should all be considering how to make money at home.

I shared the interview with Donna because of my own book entitled work@home. If you want to read more about it, please visit Proverbs 31.

In the coming week, I'll share some tips on how to start a home-based business. If God has put this on your heart, I hope some of my experiences will help you.

In His Love,
Glynnis

OH MY! I just can't believe it.... I blogged about this last night! One more confirmation for me.... wow. Nothing like having that deep, peaceful "knowing" that everything is going to be OK.

I, too, had 3 boys in 5 years who are now 8, 6 and 3 and just this morning I walked up the stairs in my house thinking "I don't know what I'm doing!" The daily devotions are always awesome and today's was right on for me. Thank you!

Your devotion came at just the right time. Today is just one of those days that I am desperate. I have four children and a husband. They are wonderful. I just can't seem to get everything in order. It seems like no matter what I say or do it always ends up the same. I know I'm probably not the only one that struggles with keeping the house clean, the kids fed, be there for their husbands and try and take care of themselves. Your devotion reminded me of something that I sometimes tell others but never do myself. I'm going to take it to the Lord because if He can't fix it no one can. He will either fix it Himself or use another person. I thank Him today for using you and sharing this devotion with many women. I also thank you for making yourself available for God to use you. May God bless you and all that you do!

I Thank God for your website, I found this morning. I am a singel mother of 3 children. I just redicated my life to Christ. Because I was desparate. I have a 13yr daughter-who started flunking out in school and has had the teenage attitude, a 9yr(middle child) screaming for attention-acting like a baby at times, and then 2yr old who has more energy than I have ever seen and he never gets tired,he deliberatly disobeys, embarasses me in public and has even bought me to tears, I try to organize chores, house, the kids, I go to school part time, work full time, and I was just thinking the other day Lord you have got to fix this because I can't and I don't know any one else who can. Luckly I found a church were the pastors say bring him, If he crawls under the seat or just cant be still, let him play, although its has a small congragation now, they do have a play room for him to go if he wants and he is the youngest child there so far. So yes I thank you for your blog, because I have thought of working at home at least parttime, because I work in the medical field, and I have read about medical transcription from home.

Hi Glynnis. This is just awesome! You've heard from me before over the last several months..I have asked you various work from home questions. God is speaking to me lately about how I spend my time. I am focusing on my health and my home and to have my home be the place of comfort and tranquility. I was thinking this morning that of all the jobs I've had, I work my best. I do my all. But I feel called to be home, and I have been since my kids were born. But this morning I felt God say to me"Do you work your best at home, do you give your allfor ME at home". Wow..my home is my life, my job..the thing is that we get so comfortable at home that we don't feel like its our"job" to keep it top notch. Right now I have probably 6 loads of laundry in the chair needing to be folded. If I folded laundry for a living for someone else, that laundry would have been done the minute it came out of the dryer. So I need to have that same attitude at home. But this really didn't have anything to do w/ working from home. But I have started a mini business of soap making. I've just sold through word of mouth and struggled w/ whether to go on Etsy with it or even my own blog. So last night I actually posted about it w/ a picture on my blog. I pray this will blossom if God wants it to. I have to allow Him to work. I need to work and I have wanted to do something from home for so long. Its my prayer this will take off. I will be tuning into your blog daily to see what you have to say about this. ...Thanks for your devotion today. Its awesome. and by the way...need any soap? :-)

As a military wife & mom to 3 boys, I stay at home to be the "stable" parent even though I am a certified teacher. We decided to send the 2 school aged boys to Private school this year. Wow! It is seriously expensive! Extra/second income advice would be great. Thank you.

Great devotion today. It really spoke to me about how when in desparate situations we can cling to other things, stay stuck where we are, or simply reach out in faith!

Although I work outside the home, I'd love to change that, so I'm very interested in any advice you have to offer!

I was reading for encouragement and then saw your blog - this was absolutely a confirmation from the Lord. I am the church secretary and would do it (if I could afford to) for nothing. My husband works, also. But different things have really be leading me to start something at home and have been really praying the Lord would lead me in the right direction. Thanks for the extra encouragement that wasn't even expected. I read some of the other comments and know how they feel - been there. It will, will, will get better. Just lean on the Lord. Keep asking Him for strength and direction, hope and joy.
