Thank you for visiting my website. I’ve put it together for two simple reasons. Not to promote myself as a speaker or author. Not to list my accomplishments. And not to sell books. I’ve created this website for two reasons: to be obedient to God and lead others to Him

You see, if you had known me years ago, you might be surprised to discover that I am speaking to women around the country and writing books. I was the weird one who would have rather gone to the dentist than speak in front of a group. I surely didn’t see myself in this position. But apparently God had other plans.

It all started in 1998 when I submitted to my husband’s desire to move across the country. I didn’t want to go, and my “submission” involved more gritting of teeth than true love and humility. I arrived in the South a bitter, resentful woman who thought my husband had moved us so far out of God’s will that I was going to suffer in darkness for the two years we were planning on being there. Little did I know then God had orchestrated that move to connect me with Proverbs 31 Ministries, a Christian women’s organization that teaches women to respect their husbands, among other things. Hmmm …. Do you think God was up to something? He was.

It didn’t take long for God to direct us to a church where I met Lysa TerKeurst, the president of Proverbs 31. After hearing her on the radio, I clearly heard God tell me to call her. I was nervous, and rattled off something about myself like “I’ve just moved here, I saw you at church, heard you on the radio, then God told me to call and volunteer. I’ve got a degree in journalism, do you need any help?”

There was a pause on the other end of the line and Lysa said, “We’ve been praying for someone with a degree in journalism.” Within a month I was editing their 2nd book and a year later I was hired as the editor of the magazine, which I still oversee. We did return home to Phoenix, but not until God could connect my heart with Proverbs 31 Ministries, and rearrange all my priorities.

After returning to Phoenix, I told God I would do whatever He wanted me to do, and here I am. I’m still listening for God’s direction, still getting pushed/pulled out of my comfort zone, still dealing with occasional fear, and yet boldly and joyfully going where I have never gone before – and that’s wherever Jesus is going!

I’ve been married to Tod since 1983 and we have five wonderful children. We live in Glendale, Arizona and are actively involved at Vineyard Church North Phoenix, where I am involved in women’s ministry, sing on the worship band and direct the music for the children’s Christmas play.

I have a degree in Journalism and Public Relations from Arizona State University. Before joining the staff of Proverbs 31 Ministries, I worked in public relations and marketing for developers of retirement and assisted living communities.

My husband and I run two home-based businesses, http://www.roselanecottage.com/ and Allwyn Environmental, an engineering consulting firm. If we can ever help you decorate your home with cottage-style accents, or clean up an old gas station, give us a call.

Some of my favorite things:

Gardens of any kind

Good morning, I read todays devotional A Grandmother's Faith. I read them everyday and this one by far was the greatest. My Grandmother read her bible in front of me and taught me a work ethic that God wanted me to know. My Mom took us to Sunday school and church and youth fellowship all thru our school days. I now have a step-grandaughter that I take to church and Sunday school. I don't have any of my own so she is my own. Her comment to others and us is that she loves coming to church and Sunday school to learn about Jesus. She knows God gave her a heart to love others. She is 5 years old. I am blessed to have her in my life and she teaches me about Jesus too in her little way. God Bless. Grandma Sue

Good Morning! I was really blessed by your devotional today and pleasently surprised to see that you lived near my area. We just relocated here to Peoria and I also kinda "gritted" my teeth through this transition. I know God has placed us here for a reason and I can't wait to see what he has in store for us. It can be very lonely out here when you don't know anyone but I have been encouraged by your words. Thank you for sharing your journey and life with us. God Bless

Hi Glynnis

I read your book 'Work at home' and ever since have been asking myself alot of questions about my life. Don't get me wrong it's a good thing. I think I was meant to come across your book when I did. Even though I walked into the book shop for a totally different reason. Praise God.

I found your site via Melissa's site "I am Beautiful". How cool to have a Proverbs 31 woman here in AZ of all places. I thought they all lived back east. Since the SheSpeaks is held back there. I would live to have you on my fav list on my two blogs. When I grow up I want to be a speaker. The closest I have gotten to that goal is when I told my story last season at our M.O.M last meeting about my Husband and his Colon Cancer/Faith. Brent is a big fan of ASU. Good Luck with college again with your son.

Hi, Glynnis! Your words are incredibly inspiring.

I can relate to the feeling of being pulled/pushed out of your comfott zone. About 4 years ago, my husband, our 3 daughters and cats were living in a beach house on Pensacola Beach.

To say I loved it would be the biggest understatement of the world! We had moved from our home state (Kentucky) to Florida for my husband's business. Loved it!!!

Long story short, his career moved us back to Kentucky. While I do love our home state, saying goodbye to a beach house, pelicans, and watching dolphins from our back window.

You can imagine!

Anyway, we had to pack up and move away from paradise on earth. While everything got ready for us, we lived with my mom for 6 months. It was crowded but very fun. She LOVED having her granddaughters (and us) with her everyday. She was like a kid at Christmas.

Shortly after we moved into our own home, my mom died unexpectedly. She died, in her sleep, from heart failure. She was only in her 60s - we certainly didn't expect to lose her so soon.

However, God knew exactly when she'd be joining Him and, beautifully, allowed us to live with her for half a year - making memories we'll cherish and giving her endless laughs and smiles.

God is good - even when we don't realize it.

Glynnis, I truly have enjoyed your devotionals. As I was meditating on this same scripture one day, the LORD gave me a revelation that I would like to share with you. Many people were bumping into JESUS that day, many were trying to get close. HIS power was available to all that was in the crowd that day, but it was the woman's faith that activated HIS power. I have learned a great lesson from this... I am expecting to receive from my LORD with every encounter that I have with HIM and I have yet to be disappointed!

Hi Glynnis,

Popped over for the first time as a result of your beautiful and encouraging insight in your devotional today on Proverbs 31. Particularly loved the comment "Our lives are too short, and our callings too great to be sidetracked by critics." Amen!! But also felt the place on the advil where God was digging a little deeper separating truth from fiction, in places that are sometimes hard to accept. The timing of your truth - God's truth - to my heart was perfect!! How good is God!!!! In gentle, caring, and even e-mail ways, He meets our needs!!!! Praying you will know you were a vessel today!

Too many of us choose to "suffer in the darkness" rather than Live in the Light...His light, Jesus Christ.
Thank you -finally! -smile- for being obedient to His will.
God's blessings on you, yours and the work of your hands and heart.
